Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-02

LookMyIP ("we", "our", or "the site") is a free suite of IP address and network diagnostic tools available at lookmyip.com. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for any personal information to use any tool on this site.

TL;DR

We do not store the IPs or domains you look up, and we never sell your data. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand aggregate usage so we can improve the tools, and we query trusted third-party APIs (like ipinfo.io, Cloudflare DNS, AbuseIPDB) to return the results you request. The site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense, which uses cookies — see Section 4 for exactly what that means and how to opt out.

1. What data we process

Your own IP address. Like every website, our servers receive the IP address of the device making the request. We use it only to return results for the lookup you performed and for standard server access logging. We do not publish or sell this data.

IPs or domains you enter as input. When you look up an address, that input is sent to our API and to upstream providers (see Section 3) to produce a result. We do not persistently store the inputs you enter.

Anonymous usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to collect aggregated, pseudonymous data such as page views, rough device/country, referrer, and click paths. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

2. What we do not collect

  • We do not ask for, collect, or store your name, email, phone number, or address.
  • We do not require account creation.
  • We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
  • We do not log or retain the IP addresses, domains, or queries you submit to the tools.
  • We do not pass the IPs or domains you look up to our advertising partners.

3. Third-party services

To deliver results and measure site health, LookMyIP relies on these third parties. Each has its own privacy policy, which applies when the service is invoked:

  • ipinfo.io — IP geolocation, ASN and network-type data.
  • Cloudflare — CDN, edge caching, DNS-over-HTTPS queries.
  • Google DNS (dns.google) — secondary DNS resolution.
  • OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org) — map tiles for the geolocation map.
  • AbuseIPDB — IP reputation / abuse confidence scores.
  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate usage analytics.
  • Microsoft Clarity — session-level usage analytics and heatmaps.
  • Google AdSense — advertising that funds the site's API and hosting costs.

4. Advertising and advertising cookies

LookMyIP is free to use. Running roughly a dozen live network tools costs real money in API credits, bandwidth and server time, and advertising is how we cover it instead of putting the tools behind a login or a paywall. We serve those ads through Google AdSense.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to LookMyIP and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org. Opting out does not remove ads — it means the ads you see will be less relevant to you.

More detail on how Google uses data from sites that use its services is published at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

What advertisers do not receive. The IP addresses, domains and hostnames you type into our tools are never shared with Google or any advertising partner. Ad requests are made independently of your lookup and carry no lookup input, no result data, and no identifier we have created for you.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Where required by the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, advertising and analytics cookies are only set after you give consent through the consent banner, which is managed by a Google-certified Consent Management Platform. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the privacy settings link in the site footer.

5. Cookies

LookMyIP itself does not set functional cookies — no login, no session, no preference cookies. Cookies on this site come from three third parties:

  • Google Analytics — measures aggregate traffic and which tools get used.
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymised interaction heatmaps so we can fix confusing UI.
  • Google AdSense and its partners — ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention and, with consent, ad personalisation.

You can block all of these using browser settings, a privacy extension, or your browser's Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control signal. Blocking them does not break any tool on this site — every lookup will continue to work normally.

6. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA)

Because we do not collect personal information tied to your identity, there is typically nothing to access, rectify, or delete. If you have a specific request under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act, contact us via the Contact page.

7. Children

LookMyIP is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be indicated in the page text.
